Nutrition Tips for Breastfeeding Moms

• Eat like your baby. Stave off hunger pangs by eating a small meal or snack every two to three hours throughout the day. Don't let yourself get ravenous, or you'll be more likely to overindulge or reach for unhealthy foods.

• Think green. To ensure that you and your baby get important vitamins and nutrients, include a vegetable or fruit--or both--with each meal or snack. Some tasty ideas: baby spinach and melted cheese in a whole-wheat wrap, apple slices with peanut butter, celery sticks dipped in hummus.

• Don't skip the salsa. Unless your baby seems sensitive to them, you don't need to shun foods that are spicy (salsa and chile rellenos), acidic (tomatoes and citrus) or gassy (broccoli and beans). In fact, exposing your baby to a variety of flavors now may make her more agreeable later, when you're introducing solid foods.

• Go fish. Swimming with heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, fish can--and should--be part of a healthy diet when you're nursing. But steer clear of types that are high in mercury, including shark, swordfish, marlin, king mackerel and tilefish. Limit canned albacore tuna to one 6-ounce serving, and light canned tuna and other lower-mercury fish such as wild salmon and cod, to two 6-ounce servings per week. If you,re not eating any fish, ask your doctor whether you should take a fish oil supplement, which contains beneficial omega 3s but is free of the contaminants often found in fish. (A 2004 test conducted by Consumerlab.com showed that none of the 42 fish oil supplements tested were contaminated with mercury.)

• Stay hydrated. Breast milk is about 87 percent water, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids; if you don't, your supply could suffer. Plain water and herbal teas are your best choices. Practice moderation with caffeinated beverages (no more than 300 milligrams of caffeine—about two to three cups of coffee—a day) and alcohol (stick to one beer or glass of wine, max—and wait two to three hours before breastfeeding).

• Keep tabs on treats. Go ahead and enjoy the occasional scoop of ice cream—you deserve it! Just don't go overboard, or you'll fill up on empty calories and possibly sabotage your efforts to get back to your pre-baby weight.

Nutrition for Breastfeeding Toddlers

Introduction

Your child can continue breastfeeding just as often during the second year, but offer solid foods a few times a day. After 12 months, you can begin offering the solids BEFORE baby nurses, if you wish, instead of after. Your milk is still an important part of baby’s diet and will offer him

Do Mothers need to maintain a perfect diet while breastfeeding

The short answer to this question is NO – you do not need to maintain a perfect diet in order to provide quality milk for your baby. In fact, research tells us that the quality of a mother’s diet has little influence on her milk.

How to help your female partner have orgasms

These days most women want orgasms. That wasn't always the case.
A couple of generations or so ago, many adult females simply didn't have climaxes – and a lot of them weren't bothered about it. Probably a lot of them didn't actually know what an orgasm was.
And some doctors claimed that, for a huge proportion of women, it was 'normal' to have no experience of orgasm.
Indeed, as late as the 1970s there were still some GPs who maintained that the female orgasm didn't exist – and was simply a myth made up by the media.
All that has changed now. These days, medical opinion is that every woman should be able to have orgasms – if she wants to.
Furthermore, preliminary results from research carried out in 2014 suggest that the majority of women are capable of multiple orgasms – if they wish to have them, and if they have an understanding, helpful and knowledgeable partner.
In general, the ability to have multiple orgasms is greater in more mature women. This is not surprising, since the ability to achieve more than one orgasm takes a bit of learning.

What is a female orgasm?

We're writing this explanation in the assumption that you – the reader – are male. But what follows will, I hope. be of interest to a lot of female readers too.
What happens in a woman's body during a climax is very like what happens in your (male) body when you ejaculate. In other words, there's a feeling of increasing excitement, building up to a point where everything 'blows' in a great blast of ecstasy.
This 'orgasmic moment' is characterised by surges of contractions in the sex organs, occurring almost every 0.8 seconds.
Men are well aware that these throbs of pleasure are accompanied by the pumping out of spurts of seminal fluid. Obviously this doesn't happen in women.
A fairly small proportion of females do produce some fluid at orgasm, but the impression given in so many erotic stories that most women 'ejaculate' is not correct. Only a minority do this.

Multiple orgasm

The other big difference between male and female orgasm is this: after the first climax, many women can 'come' again, often within a minute or two.
This ability is extremely rare in males. Relatively few young women can achieve multiple orgasm, because it's an ability that usually has to be learned.
But with the help of a skilled lover, most women can eventually achieve the capacity for multiple orgasms – if they so desire.

Bringing women to a climax

For men perhaps the most important thing to realise about female climaxes is that with women, it's not a mechanical thing – as it generally is with men.
You see, most males will ejaculate quite quickly if they have their penises rubbed. This applies even if the circumstances aren't very romantic – or even if they don't particularly like the person who's doing the rubbing.
Women are not like this. Female orgasm isn't a push-button response. The conditions have to be right. Although females vary, many women need the following if they're going to reach a climax easily:
  • a romantic atmosphere
  • pleasant, comfortable surroundings
  • a partner who they really like
  • a feeling of being wanted and appreciated
  • a good flow of natural lubrication – so that the delicate parts don't get sore
  • a skilled partner who knows how to stimulate the clitoris.
Unless you can provide the above, you are not going to have great success in giving your partner orgasms.
Please bear in mind that – contrary to what many men think – sexual intercourse by itself is not likely to produce an orgasm. This is because intercourse alone is not very good at stimulating the woman's clitoris.
Recent research shows that most females need additional stimulation of the clitoris by fingers or mouth.
So, try not to give the impression to your female partner that she ‘ought’ to be able to climax through intercourse alone, and that that is what you think of as 'proper sex'.
The sex menu can be a varied one. Some women, for example, find it really easy to climax through oral sex – particularly if the guy is patient and sensitive to what his partner wants.
And how does he find out what she wants and what turns her on? Well, a wise man will ask her. What he should not do is to assume that his technique is flawless and that if his partner does not come, it's her fault.
Plenty of men think that because a previous girlfriend always came a certain way, this one should follow suit. Women are not all the same in their likes or dislikes. So do try to treat your partner as an individual.
Many women like much more foreplay or love play than men imagine. They want to feel that the man is keen on giving pleasure – and not just in a hurry to have his own climax.
In fact, the worst thing a man can say to a woman is: 'Haven't you come yet?' This is likely to make her feel extremely inadequate and will ruin any build-up of sexual pleasure and tension that might have been taking place.
Finally, do consider using a vibrator to give her pleasure and bring her to orgasm. In 2014, a very high proportion of women have tried vibrators – and in most cases have found them enjoyable.
The main reason for this is the fact that these little sex aids vibrate far faster than a partner's finger can. So they can produce very, very intense stimulation around the region of the clitoris (and elsewhere). The result is usually an orgasm.

What to do

In summary, here's what to do if you want to bring your partner to orgasm regularly:
  1. don't be in a rush
  2. don't be too demanding – it's not an Olympic event
  3. talk to your partner, and ask her what she wants you to do to her
  4. always create a romantic atmosphere
  5. make sure that everything is comfortable and nice for her
  6. give her lots of kisses and cuddles before you even think about making any approach to her sexual area

How To Dine Out With Your Kids And Enjoy It

It's easy to see why many parents of young children avoid restaurants and prefer to eat at home, where thrown food will hit only members of the immediate family. But sometimes it's necessary — and even fun — to eat out. If you have a 2- to 4-year-old and you're still uneasy about dining out, these suggestions will help:

Before you go

Pack a bag of tricks. Bring a variety of reliable amusements, including favorite books, games, and (quiet) toys. If you know you'll need to fill an hour, overestimate and bring two hours' worth of goodies.

Here are 10 tips we’ve learned to improve our mother-daughter communication:

1 Make a commitment to understand each other’s perspective.

2 Agree that you will disagree. It’s not about convincing but understanding the other’s point of view.

3 Accept each other’s choices without judgment.

4 Try to resolve a disagreement when it’s happening, rather than keeping your feelings inside for days.

Nicole the Fertile Chic: Adeline’s Success Story

I read this story and I thought I should share…….. don’t lose hope!!!

It’s the second Monday of the month, and time for another success story! This is another one of those stories that just made me smile from ear to ear. As a dear friend in our community keeps saying, it’s just God’s way of showing off! Here’s Adeline*’s story!
I met my husband when we were both 32, and we were married at 34. On our wedding night, we threw away all our condoms, and started trying to conceive. At the back of my mind, I knew that we…or rather I…was starting rather late, but this made me intensify all our efforts. I Googled everything I needed about conceiving in one’s 30s, and made sure we had enough sex to cover all our bases!

Photos: Couple arrested for defiling and battering 13 year old girl

A Warri based couple, Mr and Mrs Francis Onyeji have been arrested by men of the Ekpan police station in Delta state for defiling and assaulting 13 year old girl pictured above.

According to
ThisDay,  the 13 year old JSS 2 girl was constantly subjected to sexual abuse by Mr Onyeji. When the wife, Chibuzor, who is the little girl's aunt found out, she battered the girl, accusing her she was lying against her husband.

Mr Onyeji, an offshore worker with an engineering company based in Delta state, constantly gave the girl money after sleeping with her and begged her not to tell her Aunt. Recently, the girl took the money he gave her to school where it was was stolen. She raised an alarm and accused her fellow classmates of stealing her N1,500. To ensure that she was actually telling the truth, the school delegated a teacher to follow her home to see her guardians. On getting home, she was interrogated by her aunt and she confessed that Mr Onyeji gave her the money after sleeping with her.

"When my aunt asked me where I got the money from, and l told her it was her husband who gave me the money after sleeping with me, she said it is a was a lie".

Mrs Onyeji was angry with her, saying she was telling lies against her husband. After the teacher left, the woman descended on the girl. She used hot knife to inflict injuries on the girls buttocks, back, leg and hand.

Mrs Onyeji was arrested and charged before an Ekpan magistrate court on Monday July 6th for physical abuse on the minor. She was however granted bail on compassionate ground as she is a nursing mother of  three months old baby.

Mr Onyeji is currently on the run . The state police have launched a manhunt.

Mrs Onyeji is still in police custody after youths in the area threatened they will do to her what she did to the little girl if she returned home. The little girl is currently in the custody of the Delta state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare and the Nigerian Child Welfare Fund (a non-governmental organisation and will be reunited to her biological parents after the case has been concluded.

The case comes up again on July 21st.

Photos: Abandoned mother of triple twins receives cash from group, who also offered scholarship to one set of twins

More help came for Mrs Ruth Uche, the abandoned mother of triple set of twins, as a humanitarian organization called Voice of Divine Truth Int’l Outreach, (aka Voice of Change Network) gave her a cash donation, and offered her 2nd set of twins scholarship from primary to university level.

This came on the heels of the Speaker’s visit and the Governor’s kind gesture to her. Sitting in her dimly lit one room which doubled as her bedroom and her sitting room, the President of the group, Mr Gregory Azemobor expressed gratitude to God for the life of the children and their mother. He also stressed the fact that the children need to be given a future. He also called on well-meaning Nigerians to do what they can in supporting this woman and her six children.

Ruth who earns a paltry N10,000 monthly salary as a teacher in a daycare Centre narrated her ordeal of sending her children to school. According to her, the children’s fees is N10,000 per child, but thanks to the management of the school who asked her to pay N5,000 instead. She narrated how she uses her two months’ salary to pay her four children’s fees. As for the books and feeding, she says she teaches an evening class of six children who pays her #1,000 each monthly, which brings in additional #6,000 for the feeding and the upkeep of the family.

The question is ’how can #6,000 cater for the needs of a growing family of seven?’ Ruth is only one of such people in our society who needs to be shown love. Let’s not wait for the government. You can do something no matter how little, to make life easier for someone.- Austin Edoho

Final post:abdominal pain in pregnancy

When is abdominal pain a worry in the first trimester?

Abdominal pain is usually nothing to worry about in early pregnancy. But if you're having other symptoms, you may need to get help.

Early miscarriage

Sadly, early miscarriage is fairly common. It usually happens because a baby isn't developing properly. You'll have cramps, bleeding and pain in the centre of your lower belly at some time in the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. Call your doctor, midwife or hospital, and then lie down or sit with your feet up.

If you have heavy bleeding, and are soaking more than one pad an hour, go straight to the accident and emergency department (A&E) of your nearest hospital. You may be able to go straight to an early pregnancy assessment unit, if there's one in your area.

Abdominal pain in pregnancy

Is it normal to feel abdominal pain in pregnancy?

Pains, aches and cramps in your belly while you're pregnant are normal. They're usually nothing to worry about, if all is otherwise well.

Carrying a baby puts a lot of pressure on your muscles,
joints and veins. This can make you feel uncomfortable around your stomach area.

Throughout your pregnancy, the tough, flexible tissues (ligaments) that connect your bones
stretch to support your growing uterus (womb). So when you move around, you may feel mild pain on one or both sides of your body.

As your baby grows, your uterus (womb) tends to tilt to the right and the ligament may spasm or contract. So you may feel cramping pain more often on your right side.
